What data I process
The website balkens.lv itself does not collect personal data and does not use cookies. The only data I receive are those you enter in the contact form or an e-mail: name, e-mail address, phone (if you give it), type of case and description of the situation.
Cloudflare, as the hosting provider, technically processes request data (IP address, browser type, time) in order to deliver the site and protect it from attacks. I do not collect or analyse these data as personal data.
Why and on what basis
To reply to your message and agree on cooperation: Article 6(1)(a) (consent) and (b) (steps prior to entering into a contract) of the General Data Protection Regulation. If cooperation begins, I process the data further as a sworn advocate under the Advocacy Law and the requirements of legal professional privilege.
How long I keep data
A contact form message is not stored on the website. It is forwarded immediately to my e-mail and remains only there. If cooperation does not begin, I delete the message within 12 months at the latest. If cooperation begins, I keep documents for as long as the Advocacy Law and the handling of the case require.
Who else has access to the data
Cloudflare, Inc. (USA) and its European entities: hosting of the site and forwarding of contact form messages to my e-mail. Cloudflare is a processor under a data processing agreement and the EU standard contractual clauses. I do not use the Cloudflare Web Analytics beacon on the site.
YouTube (Google Ireland Limited): videos on the site load only after you click the button. Until you click, nothing is sent to YouTube. After the click, YouTube receives your IP address and may set cookies, including from the youtube-nocookie.com domain. The text next to each video warns you about this.
The social media links (YouTube, X, Facebook, TikTok) are plain links without embedded scripts. They receive data only when you click them.
Cookies and statistics
The site does not use cookies, localStorage or other tracking tools. That is why there is no cookie banner. I view visitor statistics in the Cloudflare dashboard based on request data, without scripts on the page and without cookies.
Your rights
You have the right to access your data, to rectify or erase them, to restrict processing, to object to processing, to receive your data in a portable format and to withdraw consent at any time. Write to erlends@balkens.lv.

Security
The site works only over HTTPS. Do not send documents, personal identity numbers or sensitive data through the contact form: we will first agree on a secure means of communication.
